Local Ministry
FBC Athens (Texas) provides many opportunities to serve in Athens and Henderson County. Each person around us was created in God’s image and is infinitely valuable to God. We care about the whole person. Thus, we actively seek opportunities to meet physical and emotional needs, but ultimately, one’s deepest need is a personal relationship with his Creator through Jesus Christ.
God gives gifts by His Spirit to every disciple of Jesus. Look through the following opportunities and consider how God wants to use you. If you feel a tug at your heart, that might be the Holy Spirit calling you to a deeper life with him, serving others, perhaps with gifts you did not even know you had.
Consider how you might serve with the following ministries:
Engagement Team – Jesus “came to seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10).
Engagers come alongside the ministries of First Athens, listening to people,
praying for needs, seeking opportunities to share the Good News, and following
up with those who want to know more.
Children’s Clothes Closet – Provides children’s clothes and school uniforms for
the Athens community.
Converse (ESL) Ministry – English as a Second Language classes
Bedding Ministry
Christmas Land
