Staff Picks June 7, 2020
We asked our staff to curate a set of songs that we could listen to this week.
Kyle Henderson recommends:
I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song. It’s in the movie, “I am David” it’s a European story and an amazing movie. The image in the screen is about being rescued, finding home and love. The setting is Europe’s problem with immigrants and fear of “the others”. The words sound like a mashup of Psalm 19 and the Samaritan woman story. That first time I wept and wept and it is the same when I hear it now.
Wade Huggins recommends:
As I’ve watched our country walk in the pain of all that is going on. I’ve been drawn to the Psalms of lament. Seeking God. Seeking justice. Seeking His voice in the whirlwind. This song is a song from my days in the Church of Christ. A beautiful Acapella arrangement of All Who Are Thirsty. My we come to Jesus at the well of living water.
Steve Gowan recommends:
With what our country is dealing with, what Kyle’s family and my family are going through with our Dad’s, no matter what it is you are experiencing at this moment, what needs to happen is to go to Jesus!
Erin Quattlebaum recommends:
I feel God moving in me most in my darkest times. This song reminds me that I come through every hard situation because He is always with me. So bring on the rain. I will praise Him in any circumstance.
Cindy Henderson recommends:
This passage spoke to me this week from our reading in John 4.
Jaime Cortez recommends:
As we read the book of Joshua I was reminded of God’s faithfulness. In Joshua 1:5 God told him: “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” God will do it again
