In August of 2006 the Lord laid on the hearts of the people of FBCA to become involved with the overwhelming need of AIDS orphans in Africa. The very thought of the magnitude of the problem was staggering but we felt that God had a plan to use us in some small way. Under the Lord’s leadership we joined with Buckner International and Bright Hope Ministries of Ethiopia to do whatever we could in that country. Ethiopia is a country of 80,000,000 people. The average daily wage is $2 and many people exist on less. The lack of available pure water, sanitation, medical & dental care, education and employment cause the people to struggle each day just to survive and raise their families. Seeing that the challenge was too great for a single church, we sought out other churches in East Texas who would share the challenge.
The E-Team is made up of several East Texas Baptist churches. They include FBC Athens, FBC Longview, FBC Corsicana, FBC Kilgore, FBC Marshall, Central BC Marshall, FBC Lufkin, Crossroads BC Marshall, FBC the Woodlands, FBC Palestine and Central BC Jacksonville. They have combined their resources to send teams of volunteers to serve the people of Ethiopia and share the Gospel of Christ. We are blessed to have former IMB missionary Jim Palmer enlisted as the Strategic Coordinator for all of the E-Team work in Ethiopia.
