If the town of Bantu were the county seat, then the Tolee region would be the county. Since 2007 FBCA has taken our medical professionals and other non-medical logistical volunteers to offer medical, dental and optical clinics in this remote, mountainous region. Sometimes we work at altitudes of 8-10 thousand feet. It is our goal to establish a new evangelical church at each village where we serve. Our Ethiopian partners provide evangelists and pastors to work closely with each person who comes to the medical clinic. God has blessed and new believers are baptized each year. Through the work of FBCA and our United States team partners, five new churches have been established. We need your help. For more information pick up a brochure in the Global Cafe or contact Steve Akin at 903-675-5135.
March 7-16, 2014 - Water Well Recovery in the Tolee Region, Ethiopia
FBCA and Hope Springs Water work together to provide pure drinking water for people who suffer from all the diseases caused by the lack of safe water. Each year, TEAM members go to the Tolee region to dig new wells as well as restore contaminated wells and install sanitary pump systems. You are invited to join this team and learn how important a pure drink of water can be to a child in Ethiopia. Also, as with all of our work there, evangelism and new church starts are at the core of each new pure water well. Through the work of FBCA and our United States team partners, five new churches have been established. We need your help. For more information pick up a brochure in the Global Cafe or contact Steve Akin at 903-675-5135.

November 22-24, 2013 - Optical Mission to Las Lomas, Texas
FBCA has adopted the colonia of Las Lomas and its small Baptist Church near the Texas city of Laredo. Our goal for the next several years is to minister there with all the resources of our church. In November we will take our Optical Ministry to administer acuity and instrumental eye exams and fit prescription eyeglasses that same day. This is just one of the tools we can use to show the love of Christ and lead people to the Lord. We need more team members and no previous experience is required. There will be lots of jobs for everyone. Get a brochure from the Global Cafe or click on the headline above to see the complete brochure with all the facts. Also, call me even you’re not sure about participating in this project. I’d love to add your name to our Optical Team roster. Thanks, Steve Akin, Minister of Missions
October 18-26, 2013 – Early Bird Child School Based De-worming Project – Ethiopia
The children of the Bantu, Tolee region of Ethiopia suffer the affects of intestinal parasites. These living organisms cause malnutrition, exhaustion , decreased physical development, decreased mental development, lower literacy and lower earning as adults. Children with parasitic worms are more vulnerable to illness and can miss up to 35% of school days. Something must be done immediately! One pill twice a year will eradicate intestinal worms at a cost of less that 50 cents a child. A team of women from FBCA and other churches in our area will administer life changing medicine to 8,000 children in just four days. If you would like to contribute to the cost of medicine or become part of a future team, contact Steve Akin at 903-675-5135.

Friendship House @ Townview Apartments
Every Sunday morning, children of all ages meet for Sunday School at the Townview apartments. The ministry desperately needs more volunteers so the children can be divided into appropriate age groups. There is a need for teachers but also for folks who can just babysit the youngest children so that they will not disrupt the classes for older children. If you have a heart for kids and missions, contact Steve Akin, Debbie Leatherwood or Rick Bailey.
