River Ministry – Lopena, January 2011pubThis past November our teams went to Lopeno, Texas and performed a variety of wonderful ministries. In consultation with the Zapata Independent School District, Zapata County and the director of River Ministries for Buckner Children & Family Services, we began building a new home for the Flores family. Mr. Flores worked in the oilfields until he suffered a terrible stroke and was confined to a wheelchair. The Zapata school administration reached out to the family and enlisted our help in this time of need.
In addition to the construction of the new house we hosted block parties with music and great food and held evangelistic services each night. Twenty-three people responded to the Gospel message! And now we are investigating the establishment of a church or regular Bible study in Lopeno.
We are going to return to Lopeno to continue the work on the house and love on the people.
Here are the facts.
